Answers & Questions

Here is a list of the most commonly asked questions that our client ask us when they attend a session at GFM Hypnosis.

Q.  Can I be hypnotized?

Anyone of normal intelligence or smarter can be hypnotized. There are only 2 reasons, aside from intelligence, why someone may not be able to be guided into hypnosis by a trained hypnotist: 1) Fears and 2) Misconceptions.

This web site will dispel some of the fears and misconceptions associated with hypnosis. However, further concerns will be removed in the consultation where a complete explanation of hypnosis will be explained.  During the consultation, we encourage you to ask any questions to relieve any remaining concerns.

Q.  Can I be made to do something against my will? Hypnosis requires a “hypnotic contract”. This means that the hypnotist can not hypnotize a client without their permission. Furthermore, should the hypnotist give any suggestions that go against the client’s morals or ethics, the client will simply emerge from hypnosis or choose to not allow those suggestions to filter through. In other words the client is always in control of the session and will only accept those suggestions that he/she knows is of positive benefit.

Note: suggestions given to the client in hypnosis are checked with the client before hypnosis is induced to insure success.

Q.  Is Hypnosis dangerous?

Because all hypnosis is self-hypnosis, and the client is in complete control at all times, hypnosis in and of itself is not dangerous. If it were, we would all be in jeopardy every time we get engrossed in a good book, movie, or TV show. If hypnosis is used in conjunction with drugs or medication, adverse effects may occur; however, it should be noted that the adverse effects are predominately a result of the drugs or medication.

Q.  What does hypnosis feel like?

Experiences vary widely from one person to another.  While some report a sensation similar to daydreaming, others report that they simply feel relaxed, or even that they were not aware of any differences at all.

Q.  Does a hypnotized person give up control?

Do we give up control of our minds when reading a book or watching a movie? These every-day examples of hypnosis best illustrate how the mind can create physical changes within the body simply through imagination. While reading a book or watching a movie, you are literally in a hypnotic trance; however, you still have the power to emerge from that state if desired. A book, a movie, or a hypnotherapist may guide your mind, but you still have the power to resist or return to normal everyday activity.

Q.  How much do you charge?

A single stop smoking session costs £75 and lasts for one hour and thirty minutes and we are that confident that we can help you to stop smoking in one session, that if for some reason you start smoking again within three months after your session and you let us know within this time we will give you a top up session absolutely free.

Q.  How many sessions will I need?

It usually takes between two and six sessions for a person to get the results that they require with hypnosis.  Hypnosis for stopping smoking usually requires just one session.

Q.  How do I make an appointment?

Q.  Do you have any client testimonials I can read?

We do not have any testimonials that you can look at, and the reason for this is because, (a) they are considered unethical by many therapy related bodies, (b) they can be fabricated, and (c) The Advertising Standards Authority require any testimonial to be verifiable and that would conflict with the confidentiality I offer my clients.
